Iowa Legislative candidate: AIDS a punishment for homosexuality
From the Iowa Independent:
When the Bible says homosexuals should be “put to death; their blood shall be upon them,” the blood is really AIDS. Or so says Jeremy Walters, Republican legislative hopeful, in a series of posts on his Facebook.
Walters is running in House District 67 against state Rep. Kevin McCarthy, D-Des Moines, the second highest ranking Democrat in the Iowa House.

JENISON CALLS ON IOWA GOP TO DISAVOW WALTERS’ STATEMENT ON AIDS, HOMOSEXUALITY
(DES MOINES) One Iowa Executive Director Carolyn Jenison today called on the Republican Party of Iowa to disavow comments made by GOP legislative candidate Jeremy Walters who referred to AIDS a punishment for homosexuality.
"Jeremy Walters' comments are offensive and they have no place in this year's election," said One Iowa Executive Director Carolyn Jenison. "We call on the Republican Party of Iowa to denounce Walters' comments immediately. HIV/AIDS is an epidemic that does not discriminate. It’s a matter of life and death for many Iowans."
