Supporters of Iowa's same-sex marriage law aren't resting easy this election season.
One Iowa, the state's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group, kicked off its Stand Proud, Vote Proud electoral campaign this week supporting candidates who favor the civil marriage equality, providing such candidates with volunteers to canvass neighborhoods and urge people to vote Nov. 2.
"If we're not diligent this November, we will see the possibility of our freedom to marry slipping away," Carolyn Jenison, executive director of One Iowa, said. "For the sake of our families and the sake of equality, we must refuse to be silent."
The statewide kickoff included an event at the Davenport Police Department Community Room Monday morning. Events continue in Waterloo on Wednesday and Iowa City on Thursday.
