Iowans who opposed last year's state Supreme Court decision to allow gay marriage have launched a campaign to vote three justices out of office.
Common Sense PAC is the first formal attempt to unseat the three justices who face a retention vote on Nov. 2: David Baker, Michael Streit and Chief Justice Marsha Ternus.
The organization formed in May in response to the 2009 Iowa Supreme Court decision. But campaign organizers said their concern extends beyond the same-sex marriage ruling, to what they view as an out-of-check judiciary.
"We decided we've been sitting on the sidelines for way too long," said Dennis Guth, a Klemme farmer and the group's spokesman. "We needed to get involved."
